Erin deems - executive director
Erin has been extremely passionate about the animal welfare world since she was a young girl. She graduated from Olds College Animal Health Technology Program, and went on to enforce humane handling and transportation as an inspector for the provincial and federal government. After 6 years of inspection, she moved on to become a Peace Officer for the SPCA. Throughout her experiences she realized there was a gap needing to be filled in the animal welfare world, and decided to devote 100% of her time to starting a rescue, a rescue that would be a 'Saving Grace' for animals that would historically go through auction, or be euthanized.
A day in the life of this executive director includes anything from active rescue & medical care to adoptions & meetings to farrier appointments & stacking hay. Her rescue van (or mobile office as we like to call it) puts on a lot of miles !
Erins day is never done as her and her husband Ray oversee the Sanctuary animals daily as well as their own pack of dogs, a few cats and many rotating houseguests of different species. There is never a shortage of animals to be cared for at the Deems residence !
amanda mcclughan - CO-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Amanda has always been an animal lover since she was a little girl. She has been actively involved in the rescue world since 2013 in many different aspects but upon the birth of her 1st child she took a small break from rescue only to realize it was always drawing her back in! After meeting Erin and immediately realizing they shared the same passions and ideals on rescue she was excited to jump on board and assist to carry out their shared vision of Saving Grace together.
Through fundraising, overseeing shelter operations, fostering, social media, meetings and managing the cat program she is always busy!
After work she stays just as busy caring for her two little animal lovers Maylin & Mila along with her husband Luke and the dogs, cats, donkeys, horses and cows at their residence !
