Parker's Rescue Story
When Parker’s new family first saw the posts and videos of Parker on Instagram and Facebook, they were instantly drawn to him and could clearly see him being a part of their household. They thought it was corny to say, but it was something about his eyes that really spoke to them. Parker’s new mom even showed and told her boyfriend that Parker was the one! And of course, they decided to be patient and see how Parker progressed.
Months went by and finally Parker was ready to meet! After two meetings at Saving Grace Animal Society in Alix, Alberta, Parker’s new family was finally able to bring Parker home on March 9, 2021.
The first time the family met Parker, they we were surprised by how calm he was. He listened well with commands, he LOVES the ball, and he is very food driven. The trainers also demonstrated to us how he reacts towards other dogs and what we would need to work on with him. Parker had been involved in a violent dog fight that resulted in him being attacked with a machete. He had some areas of growth due to this traumatic experience.
He continues to amaze his forever home every single day. During his walks, he has been less reactive towards other nearby dogs and he’s been making more eye contact with them. And every day, his personality is coming out more and more, especially in the mornings when he wiggles his whole body in excitement and runs to the bedroom to wake up dad!
It is unfortunate to see so many animals suffer poor mistreatment because of the lack of capacity and responsibility to understand and care for the needs and wellbeing of animals, so being able to adopt Parker was seen as a great privilege to his new mom and dad.
They described that adopting from Saving Grace Animal Society was a wonderful experience for them since it is was their first time adopting together. They felt as if Parker was set up for success rather than letting them figure it out on their own. Helping dogs like Parker thrive is at the top of our list of priorities!
Every day with Parker is heartwarming and full of unconditional love. What’s recently memorable was when Parker’s dad and mom were trying to resolve a conflict and Parker sat in and broke the ice with his loud toots. He is a happy, silly and go-lucky boy in his forever home. We are so proud of Parker and his adopters, and are so thankful for this update from them!
Go forward and be happy, big boy!
