Nessie
Nessie’s forever family adopted her in February of 2019. Her new parents had started to have conversations about getting a dog but both agreed that they should wait a few months. Just a few days later they were tagged in a photo of Nessie and it was love at first sight! Nessie’s dad insisted they weren’t ready but after a few days of begging and pleading he agreed to come and meet her at the upcoming adoption event. Her incoming parents got to the event late and were fully prepared that she would be gone, but when they walked into the event she was still in her crate! They opened the door and she instantly sat on her soon to be dad’s feet. Suprise, suprise! He was as smitten as ever and Nessie went home that same night.
Nessie has changed so much since her family brought her home! She was only four months when she was adopted, so she has calmed down significantly and has grown so much with her confidence. She used to be overly skittish of anything that would cross her path, but now we she is a social butterfly that cannot wait to hit the trails for a walk or have a visit.
Rescuing Nessie was the best thing her family has ever done. She’s taught them so much patience and appreciation. Every time that she curls up on her fuzzy blanket and smiles in her sleep its reminds her family to enjoy all the simple pleasures in life.
One of the sweetest parts of Nessie is how good she is with puppies and babies. Her mom was sitting in the grass one day with her six month old cousin in her lap and Nessie stopped a few feet away from them to army crawl through the grass until she was right up next to them. She then rolled on her side to let her cousin pat and smack her with the biggest grin on her face. Her mom is also deeply inspired at how many people remark to them about how sweet Nessie is and how she has really changed their mind on what “pit bulls” were like. When Nessie was first adopted, people in her adopters family believed a lot of the pit bull myths around lock jaws and tempers but she’s taught them how untrue those rumours are just by being her sweet self.
We are so happy for you Nessie, and so proud of how far you have come!
Rescuing works, and truly improves the lives of families and animals.
